Meet Edmund
I am a social entrepreneur with over 20 years of international senior leadership experience working with non-governmental organizations and multilateral organizations to advance human rights and inclusion in over 30 countries.
I am passionate about supporting those working to make a difference in the world and people’s lives. Managing over $30 million in multi-country initiatives, I mentored civil society groups and advocates to effectively engage government, private sector partners, donors, academia, and UN agencies. These engagement processes produced innovative solutions to improve the inclusion of marginalized groups in law and policymaking, data collection and research activities, and resource mobilization efforts.
I utilize my skills best when I am coaching committed persons to build and manage organizations and programs that empower those who are most marginalized and voiceless. Serving in an advisory capacity, I worked with leading activists to create three regional health and human rights non-governmental organizations in Asia and the Pacific. Additionally, I founded two non-governmental organizations focusing on HIV and human security in China, including one of China’s first HIV national advocacy groups. Four of these organizations continue to have an impact to this day.
In 2005, I authored the first-of-its-kind Glossary of HIV/AIDS-Related Terms and Phrases in Chinese and English.
Throughout my career, I have either been published or quoted in the following publications: The New York Times, The Economist, The Lancet, Journal of the International AIDS Society, Asia Times, South China Morning Post, China Daily, Bangkok Post, Reuters, Associated Press, China Central Television, and Heinrich Boll Stiftung Southeast Asia.
I am an avid scuba diver. As a PADI Master Instructor, I have the opportunity to impart new skills, and encourage and motivate professional and recreational divers on their journeys to explore the wonders of the marine environment safely.
